Tattooing with Valhallvaror

Greetings! My name is Megan Halvorson, and I am a Montana USA native and Missoula/Bozeman MT/Germany based tattoo artist. My passion in this life is tattooing the incredible designs associated with my Nordic, Celtic and Native ancestry. I fell in love with the historical art and mythologies of these cultures years ago when I started learning more about my heritage, and it just felt completely like home for me. It is beautiful and intricate and primal, and speaks to my soul in a way nothing has since I was a kid, fully at one with nature in the backwoods of Montana. It brings me back to that special place. I have been lucky enough to develop a following of folks who are also excited about this type of tattoo art, and who want me to tattoo them, and I will continue to do so as long as people are interested.

I also am incredibly passionate about tattoo art associated with nature, from anything floral to antlers and animal skulls and everything in between. I like being able to tattoo these more delicate and fine lined ideas and contrast them with my knotwork and northern ornamental work, which tends to be a bit heavier.

    • Books are currently closed - I will announce on instagram when I will open them (usually in April/May and October/November) but please feel free to fill out the waitlist form located at the bottom of this page.

    • I book 4-6 months ahead of time depending on my personal schedule. First I will offer spots to my ongoing projects and then to my waitlist clients. Normally all of my times availability is taken by those groups, but if I have spots available I will open them up to everyone.

    • Currently I split my time between Montana and Germany, so please indicate on the waitlist form if you are interested in a particular location!

    • I specialize in custom Nordic and Celtic ornamental design, including both historical knotwork and a mixed personal style. I do prefer to spend between 1-4 days on a project at a time, with each day session being 6-8 hours long at my discretion (including design/prep and tattoo time).

    • Pricing per day session is $2000 USD. There is a $400 USD retainer (per day booked) due at the time of booking. This is a nonrefundable deposit (though it can be rescheduled to another time as long as you do not cancel within 2 weeks of your scheduled appointment). Part of this deposit will go towards my drawing/prep time before the appointment, and the remainder will go towards the balance owed at the end of the day session.

    • I accept cash, credit cards, Venmo, PayPal, Affirm and Afterpay.

    • I do understand emergencies happen and many of you travel great distances, we will take that case by case. Please see Cancellation Policies for more information.

  • There are two ways to approach your project:

    • Dealer’s choice design style - where I go wild on your skin and design with some direction from you. I do prefer to have a few hints at the direction you would like it to go (such as a theme or general idea of what you would like included).

    • Fully custom design working closely with you - we will work together to incorporate your ideas and I will ask you many questions throughout the design processes, getting your full approval on the design before we proceed. Additional pricing may be appropriate depending on the time we spend designing pre-tattoo.

    • Please fill out my waitlist form to be notified early when I have availability.

    • I will post on social media when the emails go out to the waitlist to be able to book.

    • Client Cancellations: To ensure that I can offer the best service to all clients, I require a minimum of two weeks' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling. This allows me to accommodate other clients and manage my schedule effectively. Retainer Fee If you provide at least two weeks' notice, your retainer fee will be applied to a future appointment. You will not lose your deposit, and we can reschedule for a new date that works for both of us. Late Cancellations or No Shows Cancellations made less than two weeks before your appointment, or no-shows without prior notice, will result in the forfeiture of your retainer fee. As an independent artist, missed appointments and late cancellations disrupt my schedule and are not sustainable for my business. Exceptions In cases of emergency or unforeseen circumstances, I will do my best to accommodate you, but this is at my discretion.

    • Artist Cancellations: I strive to never cancel on my clients unless due to an emergency or illness. In such cases, I will communicate with you as soon as possible to reschedule. However, please understand that, just like any business, unexpected circumstances may arise. I appreciate your patience and flexibility if such a situation occurs. I highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for flights, accommodations, and other travel arrangements in case of unforeseen cancellations or delays. This ensures that you are covered in the event of any changes to your tattoo appointment. Your understanding and respect for this policy help me continue to provide the best experience for all clients. Thank you for your cooperation! If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please contact me directly as soon as possible.
